Whose Reality Are You Living?
https://youtu.be/RyZbNtjHeIo From the moment we are born, we begin to form an idea of what reality is. We learn from...
We Are Making Machines More Intelligent. But What About Our Own Intelligence?
I have met entrepreneurs who knew almost everything about their business and still didn't know what to do next....
We have trained people to understand almost everything around us. We have specialists in healthcare, technology, finance, organizations, sustainability and increasingly artificial intelligence. We measure performance, productivity, risk, emissions and economic growth.
But I asked myself another question.
What is all this progress doing to the human being?
It is a question I have been asking for years. Not because systems are unimportant. Quite the opposite. I have spent much of my working life inside organizations and systems and have seen what they can achieve. But I have also seen what happens when the system becomes more important than the person it was created to serve.
Systems were created by human beings to serve human beings. When we forget that, we may become very good at improving the system while losing sight of the human.
Ronald, Founder Transformation Nomads
A question we took to the International Therapists Fair
In 2025, Transformation Nomads we were invited to take this question to the International Therapists Fair. We had our own stand, presented our work and gave a keynote about Human Sustainability and the Real Human Goals. One sentence on our stand captured where our thinking was heading:
“Become the new therapist for the new human.”
At the time, we spoke about training RHG Practitioners: professionals who could use the Real Human Goals to look beyond symptoms or isolated problems and bring the human being back into the picture. Looking back, I can see that something larger was already taking shape.
We were beginning to ask whether the profound changes taking place around us also require a new kind of professional.
What if the problem is bigger than the symptom?
Someone may arrive with stress. Another with problems at work, a relationship that no longer works, a loss of direction or a feeling that something in life has to change. We naturally want to help solve the problem. But what if the problem someone brings us is only the visible part of a larger reality?
Their work may be involved. Their relationships. Their beliefs. The organization in which they function. Economic pressure. Technology. Expectations from others. Their own choices. Even assumptions about what a successful life is supposed to look like.
Treat only the symptom and we may miss the person. That insight became increasingly important in the development of Transformation Nomads.
From RHG Practitioner to Human Sustainability Practitioner
Today, I would describe the professional we were imagining differently.
A Human Sustainability Practitioner.
Not a replacement for a doctor, psychologist, therapist or coach. Each has professional expertise that matters. The difference is the field of view.
Human Sustainability asks us to look at the person within a much larger reality: inward, at what someone believes, experiences and may already know; around them, at relationships, organizations and systems; and outward, at developments that may influence their future.
That thinking now sits at the heart of our Human Sustainability Intelligence™ methodology.
The Real Human Goals remain part of it. They ask a deceptively simple question: beyond everything our systems measure, what do human beings actually need in order to live meaningful, sustainable lives?
But they are now part of a broader framework that also includes our Five Domains and the intelligence we use to understand people, systems and developments ahead.
The world has changed. The question hasn't.
Artificial intelligence is accelerating. Work is changing. Healthcare is under pressure. Organizations are restructuring. People are surrounded by more information while not necessarily experiencing more clarity.
That makes the question we took to the Therapists Fair even more relevant today. Who is looking at the whole human being? And who is being trained to see when the problem in front of us is not necessarily the problem we need to solve?
At Transformation Nomads, we believe Human Sustainability will require professionals who can work across those boundaries. Professionals who don't begin by assuming they already know the answer. They begin by looking.
At the human. At the reality around them. And at what we may still be missing.
Because the future will need people who understand increasingly sophisticated systems. But it will also need people who remember why we created them in the first place.
For us.
